obama care process. nice to talk to you, nick. i should add that we found each other on gretawire you posted a comment or wrote me. thank you very much. tell me, what happened, what's your healthcare experience? >> greta, i have got an experience not unlike a lot of other people. i got a letter from my insurance carrier back in june, actually telling us that our policies were going to be cancelled effective january 1st of 2014. and, you know, really i found it fairly interesting. in the same letter they said they were going to refer us to another insurance company. they had worked out, quote, an arrangement to deal with it unfortunately, because we have some fairly minor preexisting conditions, you know, we applied for individual coverage outside the exchange and have been denied coverage. so now, you know, we are basically stuck and we are at the mercy of the exchange. and i could go on and on about the experience trying to get through that. >> i actually went -- i mean, have you been trying to get on the exchange for a long time. did you find something satisfactory on the exchange?

of 254 millions. a jumpy trading session so far for linkedin. back to you. >> thank you. nbc news breaking the story today that the obama administration has known for three years that many americans could not keep their health insurance under boom obama care. quite the opposite of what president obama continued to promise. we're joined by lisa myers, nbc news senior investigative correspondent who broke the story. she joins me with the latest. what can you tell us? >> the white house today in the briefing seemed to elaborate on the president's initial promise and put in more qualifiers. basically what we found is in the individual market, the place where people buy their own insurance policies, it's only about 14 million americans. these are the folks who have been receiving all these cancellations notices. if you look back in the obama care regulations, it says in there they expect that 47% to 60% of the folks in that market will not be able to qualify for grandfathering, which means they wouldn't have been able to keep their plan if they wanted to. which as you know was a corner

are enrolled. back to you. dagen: rich edson, thank you. connell: the other side of it today, the reports out saying the obama administration knew back in 2010 over three years ago 10,000 people would not be able to keep their health insurance despite promising otherwise. dagen: joining us now. this is coming to a rude awakening for people who are getting dumped by their insurance providers bid they will have to go and potentially without a subsidy by more expensive health insurance. >> well, dagen, this is nothing new. it is widely covered in the fall of 2010 when the new regulations were being rolled out from health and human services. we have to keep in mind 85% of americans who get their health insurance from their employers will be able to keep their plan. this is focus on the individual health care marketplace. which was a mess. connell: there is nothing taken out of that quote. >> 85% of americans get it from their employers. if i was his speechwriter, maybe i would have said let's talk a little bit about the fine print but it is 85% of americans, get your insurance from your employer.
